Introduction of Tungsten Alloy Rod
Tungsten alloy rods have many special properties, such as:
Small but high density (usually 16.5~18.75g/cc), high melting point, high hardness, excellent wear resistance, high ultimate tensile strength, good ductility, low vapor pressure, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability, easy processing, corrosion resistance, good shock resistance, high radiation absorption capacity, excellent impact resistance and crack resistance, and non-toxic and environmentally friendly, consistent with international environmental protection standards.
The most important applications of tungsten alloy rods are in the three aspects of counterweight, radiation shield and military weapons.
The use of tungsten alloy rods for weights is based on the high density characteristics of tungsten alloys, which have significant advantages over other metals. It can be used for balance matching parts of aircraft blades; gyro rotors and counterweights used in nuclear submarines; and counterweights in Spey engines.
In the field of radiation shielding, tungsten alloy rods can be used for radiation shielding devices in radiological medicine such as Co60 therapeutic machines and shields in BJ-10 electronic linear accelerated therapeutic machines. There is also a protection device for the gamma source in geological exploration.
In military applications, tungsten alloy rods are widely used in armor-piercing projectile core materials. This kind of armor-piercing projectile is equipped on more than a dozen tanks and dozens of artillery, and has great armor-piercing power.
